Your Brain: The most important organ in your body or anatomical step-child?

You can't think, eat or even breathe without your brain so why is it one of the most ignored part of our bodies?
Take a quick peek at this article highlighting the one of the key drivers as to why I am launching the podcast- our naivety around mental illness.

I get it... Humans don't want to think about the WAY they think- they just want to do it. It's like hopping into your car.
Do you really sit back and contemplate how after you start the car’s ignition the engine cranks to generate power from compressed air that ultimately moves the pistons and piston rods that subsequently move the axles attached to your wheels to make your tires spin enough to propel you forward? Of course not.
So when we face personal struggles and there is no one around to empathize with us we tend to internalize our pain and frustration in fear of being labeled or judged. Its much easier to say you need an oil change than admit to needing to see a "shrink". Even that old-school term is reductive. Shrink: [derives] "from the term 'headshrinker,' comparing the process of psychotherapy to primitive tribal practices of shrinking the heads of enemies." ( I grabbed that definition from here) I also rolled my eyes...
We have to do better, my friends. I am very much so looking forward to starting this mission and joining the ranks of so many others sharing their own stories in hopes to make a change.
Hugs,
Kim
